| Nick joined Inmos (Bristol) for a year-out-in-industry in 1986, before getting sponsored through his studies, working there each summer. After a year's travel he carried on working on software (IMS D4217? something like that) for 18 months before getting itchy feet again and moving to the alps for a couple of years to work at Archipel, porting Chorus/MiX to the Transputer and skiing/ paragliding/ walking. 10 years later he's still in the alps, having worked at the OSF on microkernels with Apple then Java middleware, and is now at Sun working with a team on HA clustering solutions. |
